I was coming here to post a topic about this... But since you posted a pic about it...

I'm no structural engineer, but (IMO) even the 'before' photos of it don't exactly look safe. It seems like there should've been some support on the ends... Then again, I guess that would depend where it failed. Did it sag in the middle? Or did (and what appears to have happened) it snap on what looks like might be the north end?


Florida seems to be having a bit of bad luck here recently.

I read an article today that said the bridge was not done. It’s final design included a central tower with support cables, which weren’t in place yet. The article criticized the makers for not having temporary supports in place in the meantime.
