It's always strange to me how different things are in other parts of the country. I can't even imagine seeing activity at a neighbor's house and just dropping by to see what's going on, let alone have the whole thing turn into a spontaneous party. Even at my parents' house in the 'burbs, where we actually knew most of the neighbors. It's just not something most New Englanders would think to do, at least in my experience.
