Actually, people in Brazil that I know. My latest understanding is that there was a public outcry in the officers favor, so the bureaucracy retracted its punishment, and rewarded him instead... which probably explains why the story has this line "Ele continua exercendo suas funções na corporação e não sofreu nenhuma punição." Why specifically point that out unless there's reason to? But I'm not arguing the facts, because I really don't know. I'm a million miles away getting all my "facts" second hand.

But who trusts the media anyway.
