it's not really informational if your headline misleading tho.
patents like this are still a problem, and unfortunately will be for a long time, they really do nothing but end up holding back technology and having unintended consequences such as the problems you see them causing for emulators.
it's good to know MP3 itself is less tangled tho.
some headlines are instead saying 'MP3 is dead' as a result of this, so I'll give you that, you didn't hit that level of bias / false reporting.
