Holiday Hacks
01/23/19 03:36 PM

I don't know who is doing the Donkey Kong hacks, but they are doing an outstanding job. They can't be called mere hacks at this point--they're passable for sequels. I've been making artwork files for lots of HBMAME games over the last several months that I felt were worth it.

I hope they keep this going and round out the set with other holiday hacks. This is the next best thing to having a TARDIS to go back to 1982 and experience new games again.

St. Patrick's Day: maybe a Tapper hack with Killian's or Guinness logos in the back and a red-headed bartender and a green color scheme? Or what about a Punisher hack using Boondock Saints characters? Maybe Centipede with shamrocks for mushrooms and snakes instead of scorpions...

Valentine's Day: a version of Centipede with hearts instead of mushrooms and a cupid bow for a shooter and a color palette of reds and whites?

Easter: Joust with easter eggs and in pastel colors? Kangaroo with the Easter bunny instead of the kangaroo?

Independence Day: a version of Pac-Man where the ghosts are red/white/blue with stars for eyes; have the maze color cycle between red/white/blue, and have some kind of fireworks display every time you eat a power pill. Instead of the usual fruit, make it things like hot dogs, burgers, beer, firecrackers?

A man can dream.
