Irratating Maze

Created a layfile for irritating maze. everything is working the way i had hoped, except I don't know if I can setup the trackball to work with the lights. Looking at MAME internal the Trackball light should strobe. I've created images for lit and dark trackball and use the Y axis to show movement. But don't know how or if it can be set up to change states, anyone want to take a look, please do. Any help is appreciated.
