The files must be unzipped in the folder xmen6p, inside the artwork folder.
Sometimes even then, the artworks, doesn't load automatically and you have to force it for the first time.
Start the game and try the tab key in your keyboard, then go to video options, and select the first one called upright artwork, make sure that down the same menu, backdrops, overlays and bezels are enabled.
