What Game is this?

I remember a game that was not unlike golden axe 2 but newer it was a 4 player game and and after each level it would total your score/gold and let you upgrade your character. I don't remember it being any gauntlet game. It seems to be pre-gauntlet update i.e. maybe before 2000 possible early to mid 90's.

There are many games that it sounds like. e.g. these games sound sort of similar (note: they are 1-2 player only, and I can't remember if they have gold / scroe upgrade at the end of level): Blade Master, Dark Seal, etc.
A good place to start searching might be this list on MAWS:

I will look do you know what the games names are?
I remember that the end of level screen was coloumed up and down for each player.. with multiple screens for the upgrading/lvling up of your character. i.e. i think the characters lvled up.
After looking at both d&d games and Knights of the Round they look very close to what I remember ... I will have to try them out.
For the longest time I thought it was like goldexn axe 3 or 4 but I was way .... wrong about that.

It is more like knights of the round.. but that doesn't seem to be it.

sounds like the king of dragons by capcom.in that game you leveled up and fought ogres and knights.it had an rpg like experience but in arcade form.almost positive its that one.unless its a japanese title.....one of my favorites by the way.
