Picking up an original Donkey Kong machine, couple questions about controls
#258116 - 06/22/11 10:11 PM

The seller says the cab is a plywood original, has some minor damage. Everything else seems to check out except two things, the buttons and the front wood plate with jumpman examples.

Here is a pic:

1. What are the original button colors? 2 blues and an orange right?

2. The red highlighted area on the machine is chipped. Is that bar part hard to find/replace? Will I need to purchase a whole control panel just for that part?

He also just recapped it so monitor is fine.

Thanks for any help!

Looking at that pic, seems like you're correct.

Hey, I recognize that guy!

On the back part you circled, no you don't need to replace the control panel for this. It's attached to the cabinet, not the control panel. You can remove the coin panel and not have to take that off. Have you found the control panel latches yet?

This piece has some sort of Formica or melamine on it. the top part is missing from mine, see the picture. I've read about people fixing these 2 ways.

1. Strip off the melamine, sand, prime, and paint a semi-gloss black, re-apply repo control sticker.
2. Strip off the melamine, sand, prime and attach new Formica/melamine/vinyl, re-apply repo control sticker.

I think I'm going to go the first route, except I don't need to strip mine, just paint the top. I do need to replace the Formica/melamine underneath my control panel though. Still trying to figure that one one.

Good luck and enjoy it! I haven't broken 80K point yet!
