OK back online...
#271317 - 12/22/11 04:48 PM

...after some fun with script kiddies and the hosts, we are now back.

MAWS will remain offline for the moment, as this is the place the issue came from in the first place.

Anyhow, welcome back.

Really back this time.. glad that got sorted out for now. But maybe it might be a good idea to start looking around - just in case.

Script kiddies? Does this mean we can't blame Lev?

Glad we're back.

Is there any estimation of when MAWS.com will be back online? That website is essential and I use it everyday. So just curious about when it will be back? I hope nothing got ruined in MAWS.

And any idea of who the attacker was? Do you think it was a member or a "stranger".

It was just a random attack I suspect.

MAWS, not sure, I think that'll be up to CBW to sort the script and make it secure, whether it comes back to MW or is hosted elsewhere is something we'll need to discuss with him.

We can't allow anything like this to happen again, or we'll be taken down for good.

MAWS.com is essential to regular users of MAME. Does anyone know of a website that can be used as an alternative to MAWS? I know it won't be as good as MAWS, but in the mean time while we wait for MAWS to be back online, is there an alternative website?

Thanks, but is there an english version of this website? Besides using the weak Google/Bing Translation. Ya know how progetto-SNAPS has an english version of his website... well does progettoemma have an english version?

no. it does not exist any english version because there was already MAWS, and there was no point in duplicating the results. if MAWS does not come back (i.e. CBW cannot fix the issues), there will maybe be an English version, but otherwise you have to live a few weeks with the italian version.

Oh ok. I didn't realize that MAWS was going to be offline that long. I thought it was going to be a few days, not weeks. I've learned how to navigate and translate ProgettoEmma decently, and it is a nice alternative to MAWS. But even though I am Italian, I can't speak/read Italian. English is my native language. So I obviously prefer MAWS.

It's "bUongiorno" ;-) ... Bongiorno was a very popular Italian television host, died in recent years.

Exactly... moreover, CBW at MAWS helped me a lot in the creation of progettoemma, so it would be pretty unfair for me to be a direct competitor (other than pointless, since MAWS is a already more complete than my site...

I blame the lateness of the hour of the post, and the stress of the holidays, and the fact that Americans spell Chef Ettore Boiardi "Chef Boyardee"

Italian is basically Spanish with different words, i.e. almost identical grammar.

I just know a couple of curse words that would probably get my ass kicked if I said them in front of anyone who spoke either language.
