Silver Millennium dumped!
#282201 - 04/12/12 04:11 AM Attachment: SM.jpg 298 KB (2 downloads)

One of the most wanted games in the world just got dumped by Bony0013, Silver Millennium:

http://mamedev.emulab.it/undumped/index.php?title=Silver_Millennium

A rare shmup from Korea. It sells for insane amounts on Yahoo Japan. Looks like Bonky got dozens of boards from an operator going out of biz so there will probably be more but none could be as sweet as this. Ready your engines, this is going to kick ass friggin Gunbird style.

Well it's an awesome work 'guy'. It's a Bonky update, not DU if that's what you thought. Anyway he apparently didn't know what game it was. I'm sure he will be pleased when he finds out how much it sells for.

How's the gameplay?

A few collectors who can afford to pay $1000 per game could answer that. Everyone else is waiting on the emulation... I just got home and saw the dump was sent to me. Nobody has looked into the emulation yet afaik.

Don't front. If you had a dump of it to release you'd close all the forums and redirect everything to an announcement of the dump in the largest possible font.

Maybe for Bouncer or Monkey Magic. Not that interested in Crazy Otto. It's a most wanted for other people, not so much for me. I don't like its history or politics in the least. Find them disgusting, as are people who froth over the idea of getting it and turn up their noses at SF2 hacks.

I'm really happy to have asked my dear friend Bonky0013 to dump this board first.
He will surely be shocked to known it is one of the most wanted games...
It is very good this game is now preserved and will be added to MAME.

Everyone has their own favourite undumped roms of course, my list would contain old stuff like Sega's Tic Tac Quiz, and Nintendo's Computer Othello. No doubt those games have aged really really badly, but it's more about the history for me.

Will the fact that its dumped and emulated make it worth less money?
Bet there are a few Japanese collectors who own this title who are probably not so happy its been dumped...

Probably but that doesn't always happen. Ketsui seemed to go for $700 before it was added to mame and that's still the retail price.

This was my most wanted revision of an already dumped game! From seeing pictures of it earlier, it looked like a ROM hack of "Mazinger Z" on "Cave" HW.

I don't think it's a simple hack. The only evidence pointing that way so far are that it was made in Korea. Hardware appears to be a Tumple Pop variation.

Most noticeable difference is the way Otto faces when turning,in the real deal (from a youtube video of PAX east 2010) when going down Otto faces you,and while going up his back it to you (pretty cool actually)

But yea,I can certainly see how there would be other, unemulated games higher to the top of your list,Smit

I mostly just want Otto because it would make other people happy and the Time magazine article forced it into some sort of holy grail status even though I'm not interested. If it was added to mame I would load it once. Once.

Thanks for the news. It's always nice to see some rare arcade game to surface out.

The bad background graphics are due to some badly dumped roms or to some sort of encryption ?

TIA

Fair enough, I'll submit it after work. Since it's Linux-based we oughta be able to get it to actually boot up at least partially.

New MAME shots new [Re: Smitdogg]
#282363 - 04/12/12 11:31 PM

Seems pretty good but the difficulty level is insane. The bullets are oldschool fast come-right-to-your-ass. Each character has different speed and options. The options can be used to destroy enemies and cancel their bullets but you can run out and they are difficult to use correctly consistently.

It's definitely part of the formula that would cause people to coin up more
