where can i get the cheat.xml for mame

cant seem to get the cheat working i have the tick checked emable cheats and i have the cheat .7z or the cheat .zip in the main directory any ideas what i am doing wrong thanks for any help

I have a problem with this too.
Using UME and cheat_megadriv.7z in the same path. D:\UME
megadriv.ini
cheatpath cheat
cheatpath cheat_megadriv I also tried this.
cheat 1
Also I did notice the speed drop by a small bit on the Sonic game when the cheat is enabled.
No cheat menu showing.

cheats work fine here, so you're doing something wrong. let's see how to fix this.

fine. but what is the content of cheat_megadriv.7z? typically Pugsy's cheats are 7z containing a zip, containing the xmls. MAME/MESS/UME expect to access the archive with the xmls, so you probably have to uncompress the 7z and use the zipfile name as cheatpath
for the record, it's all very clearly described in Pugsy's homepage, with pictures. you just have to read and follow the pictures

Oh OK. MAME cheat is in a zip.
I wonder why he use the 7z on the others? I will re-zip it into zip. Probably will fix the problem after that.

Just needed a cheat folder and a output.xml file in order others to work. Other wise won't work.

If I see this correctly only works in a different way.
"You can activate cheats in MESS by selecting them in GUI or by using the -cheat option at command line. Unfortunately, cheats are currently not working in MESS after MAME 0.127 cheat rewrite.
More precisely, you can add cheat in xml format as system.xml but you cannot currently add per game cheats as in previous versions. They should be re-added soon."

I quit using the UME because of the cheat system was adding the cheats from MAME to MESS. It fool me on Sonic.

they work now, with latest cheats at Pugsy's website (those in xml format) and in conjunction with softlists. the howto is currently not up-to-date.
you would have seen it by yourself, if you would have tried
EDIT: the only part not working (in fact, untested but I don't expect it to work) is the usage without softlists, having cheatfiles named after crc32 as in pre-xml era

that is not a problem in MESS, the xml is invalid: try extracting akumajo.xml from the archive and use any online validator (like http://www.w3schools.com/xml/xml_validator.asp) to check by yourself
you shall report the broken xml to Pugsy, because the issue in in the xml (namely, he uses dashes '--' inside a comment which is invalid in xml...)
also, if this happens in MESS and not UME, you are probably not enabling the correct cheatpath in UME, because that same akumajo.xml would fail to load in any MAME derivative
using cheats quite often I can just repeat once again: cheat support in MESS is as good as in MAME, these days, as long as you use softlists

Using frontends with individual .ini per system (like QMC2) might help simplifying the config too.

I can't log in on Pugsy forum. The emails that I use the forum won't let me re-sign up with. So I can't report this. Using Gmail and Live. This is bullshit!
I going to see how the Sonic cheats set up on MAME side. Maybe it will help to know what I need to fix the way it should be.
