Silver Strike
#308182 - 05/02/13 07:44 AM

Is Silver Strike emulated yet by any emulator? I don't even see it as non-working in MAME. In fact I don't see any of the more recent versions of Golden Tee being emulated so it must be more difficult to do the newer Incredible Technologies titles.

Silver Strike and GT Live! are on IT's PC hardware system, and the games at least appear to be significantly "network locked" so emulation or Type-X style piracy loaders are unlikely.

Still in service. Won't be touched out of respect for gaming manufactures, and the swift boots of their copyright lawyers.

Que?

I thought they were mostly just buggered by the CID. I know that SS should play offline, not sure about the GT Live...

Thanks for the info. I was mostly curious because i'm upgrading my cabinet's motherboard/memory in the next couple days. If these were relatively close to being emulated I'd make sure to get hardware that could handle them.

Nope. The older Eagle h/w might do something interesting in the next 2-3 years but not Silver Strike - that's still IT's current platform so it's untouchable.

Was there ever a version of Silver Strike that ran on Eagle hardware? My memory is probably a little shoddy, but I remember playing a version of Silver Strike in a bar 8 years ago.

I was thinking the same for some reason, but I can't find a single ounce of proof to back that up. I must be getting old.

Not too difficult to find:

I definitely played it in bars in/by 2006.

But did it run on eagle?

Note "Powerful new hardware platform" on the flyer. Eagle first shipped 4 years before that, so I doubt they mean Eagle.

I'm seriously doubting it too, but I have this nagging voice telling me their was a second hardware for SSB.

The place I was at did a lot of field testing for IT, so it's possible what I saw wasn't final product. I swear I had to change I/O boards at the very least on some of the earlier SSBs

//Or I'm getting old.

It may have been it originally shipped on a less powerful version of the PC hardware, somewhat like how one or two of the early Eagle games had less RAM.

and finally I remember upgrading the I/O board to this:

(still have one of these lying around collecting dust)

So which system is which, how are they differentiated in nomenclature, and how bad is my memory?

This is the ITech 8-bit hardware - there's a YM2203 and a 6809 CPU visible, among other things. It definitely ain't Eagle.

This ran Super Strike Bowling and Strata Bowling, not Silver Strike

Like I said, memory is fuzzy on that one. I swear Silver Strike was on a PCB / Hard drive Like the T's at one time...it's bugging the crap outta me that I can't recall anything in detail.
