Oh Brilliant I can't wait to play this game again & a nice little reminder of the exact cabinet I had in my bedroom in the late 90's. Knowing what I know now I wish that I had never sold the cabinet & game for £150 But I got the classic 1984 game wonderboy & an old 80's cabinet as well so can't really complain. THANKS for this great reminder of my gaming years.

I'm also curious about the cabinet - from the flyer and other pictures it appears that the game instruction printout covers the top half of the screen area... does that somehow disappear to make way for the game screen?

Interesting idea Taito had. In a way, it was a foreshadowing of what the 3DS could do with some of their games (namely the "3DS Classics" remakes)

P.S. Can I ask here what's going on with Donggul Donggul Haerong ?
I found info in whatsnew_0153.txt :
-preliminary patches for Donggul Donggul Haerong [ElSemi] (still
doesn't work, but at least boots now)
-fixed bad graphics in donghaer [ElSemi]
My question is :
Do You worked together with ElSemi for those newest wip updates, because as I remember, You have already done this patch 3 years ago ?
Also, why this game is not listed in Crystal system BIOS in MAME ? (the other 3 games are there)
What are the chances for promoting donghaer to working state ?
Sorry if I am too rude or impatient, but I really really want to try this game in MAME.

By the way, Donggul Donggul Haerong is the Korean name for the Japanese character/show Hero Hero Kun (the sound "hero-hero" basically meaning "weakling" in Japanese). This was a manga and a short animated segment for the NHK show Tensai Terebikun. When I was in Japan in the early 2000's I quite enjoyed the show considering my limited Japanese speaking ability. Imagine my surprise to see it pop up as an arcade game! I don't suppose there's a Shounen Ashibe game too?

i guess this will be at at least top 3 in all 2014 mame news....
but since i am verrry curious...
why in the blue hell did guru release the dump...
and why is his site offline for +- 3 days now ?
his farewell to the emu scene ?............

Guru's site is online and working fine. It's just not hosted on mameworld anymore.

It needs more testing to see how "nasty" the protection is, i.e. if it can be simulated with a reasonable degree of confidence.
Otherwise yes, decapping would probably be the only option.

I don't think they're terrible per se, but they don't match the mood of the game as well as the music in Taito's obvious inspiration, Xevious.
