How to use clrmamepro to Un-Merge a ROM set
#338918 - 04/15/15 01:37 AM

Hello,
I recently updated my mame roms to ver. 159.
All roms; parent & clone roms work and show up when using MAMEUI32 159 but when I use Hyperspin or HyperlaunchHQ, only the parent roms are vissible.

I would like to Split/ un-merge my roms using clrmamepro(?) so all parent & clone roms will show up in Hyperspin.

Is clrmamepro the right thing for this?
What are the steps if using clrmamepro; add DAT 159 file, scan...rebuild...merge..?? ,etc..

Any help or info is appreciated

Thomas

It has nothing to do with your romset. It's HyperSpin's version of the MAME.xml that only lists the parent set.
You can see this if you open it in Notepad and view it.

I'm unsure if anyone has bothered to do a 100% complete MAME.xml for HS usage.

You can easily hook up another Frontend such as QMC2 or MAMELOAD TNG to view all the games rather easily.

Using HyperHQ, open up your Mame Wheel>Wheel Settings tab>Navigation/Themes tab> and uncheck "Parents Only". There's a screenshot of this if you just Google it.

Otherwise you have to open up your Mame.xml in Notepad, find the specific rom you want to show up on your wheel that isn't and remove the text between the "cloneof" and "/cloneof" tags, then save your changes.

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, I know about the 'parent rom' option in HyperHQ and have had it un-checked but no change.

What I'm doing now is going into the parent zip folder extracting the clone game folders, zipping them & then adding them to main rom folder. It works but a bit of a PITA lol...

Hey, I was on my iPad and I Googled a screenshot and that's the best I could find. I figured you'd all get the gist of what I was talking about. Now that I'm on my 'puter here's a better shot. ;-)
