For folks that weren't following that long wishlist thread, Votrax simulation is in. clrmame told me I didn't need Wizard of Wor and Gorf samples in my last run. Nice work guys.

Wow, thank you very much to all the people involved. I am speechsample-less

Now THIS was quite surprising news! Votrax SC-01 has been on my personal wish list for over a decade - so nice to see it finally becoming a thing!
I wonder how complete the simulation actually is? There really should be a write-up somewhere on this incredible progress, so vital is this to the preservation effort.

I was wondering about samples for Qbert so that answers my question about it. That's good to see. A write-up on the simulation would certainly make for interesting reading.

Yeah, so unless someone writes a hammer sound simulator (with spatial settings to make it feel like the sound comes from the gound) that knock sample will "stay a while ... stay forever!"

Since Galibert's already working on Votrax, it's not outside the realm of possibility he'd write a simulator like that, but that would ultimately be up to him or any other person who wants to do that.

>/Edit - Clearly the Wizard of Wor, the Gorfian Emperor and Q*Bert haven't hit puberty yet!
Either OG or couriersud might get filter support for Votrax and a couple updates so they won't have a pitch/frequency anymore that is comparable to the late Tiny Tim.
