DU Fundraiser: Most Wanted Early 1980s Game
#363629 - 02/17/17 07:07 PM

We are trying to get a ridiculously expensive most wanted shooting game from the early 80s. I guess I shouldn't mention the game name in public though in this day and age I'm really not sure how much good that does. There are only so many places you can get a PCB. I can tell you the name in a private message if you want to see if it's something you want to donate for. It's a most wanted from one of the big name companies and it's outrageously awesome and expensive. We will credit you in the mame whatsnew if you donate. Click the button below to donate.

Just donated. I can only do it once a year, but this looks like the right thing to do now

Sadly I have nothing to give right now other than blood, sweat and tears, but I hope you get enough to purchase it and I'm anxious to find out what this game is!

Strange, I've never heard of it doing that. Maybe it will work if you login and send as friend directly to my email in United States currency. They made some changes recently.

Final Push new [Re: Smitdogg]
#363715 - 02/21/17 12:28 AM

Thanks everyone so far for your donations. We still need a lot more if we are going to come close to guaranteeing a win in the auction. Shoutime probably won't be able to add much if any of his own money because of other deals he has been working on so if you can donate now is the time. I don't think a more important fundraiser will come this year. The game is from 1980 so I don't really know how the data is still holding on the roms. My guess is the owner has backed them up years ago and swapped the rom chips.

What figures are we talking about? Maybe I can donate more.

There's no way I can post figures, that could empower hoarders bidding against us. We're not in a safe winning range, that's about all I can say. I can say how much it sells for when I announce the game if we when and receive it.

Broke the bank new [Re: Smitdogg]
#363758 - 02/22/17 04:53 PM

We won it for roughly $6,200 USD and had to dip thousands into personal funds. We really need more help if anyone can help, click below. The game is considered to be a masterpiece of its time by some people in Japan which is why it sold for this amount. I'll post the game name when it arrives.

That's great to hear it's been won and secured. I hope the funds can be recovered sooner rather than later.

Congrats on the score.

Yep a shooter from 1980 considered to be a masterpiece of its time that likely never left Japan now about to be added to mame. It doesn't get much better than this. If this doesn't give you a mame boner just snap the shit off, it's dead.

it will be interesting to see

it's one of those where I felt the screenshots on the flyers were mockups rather than actual shots so I'll be interested in seeing how close the actual thing is to them.

I think you might be right, but still considered to be top available 1980 gameplay by some people who have played it.
