Need help setting up Mame
#364019 - 03/02/17 10:13 PM

My first thread here so hi everyone.

I'm pretty sure you have this before "having issues setting up Mame" so I wont start moaning .

I just cant get any game to load and there are alot of options (different versions) when it comes to setting up Mame.

The games I really want to play are titles like Marvel vs Capcom, SNK VS Capcom, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter 3
, King Of Fighters etc etc.
I have tried a few online youtube guides but none are complete imo (they always assume something about what the end user is using or has etc).

Is there anyone who would be kind enough to help me step by step set this up? heck i'd even be willing to let someone RDP (via skype etc) to my laptop to help set this up.

Is anyone up to help me out?

thanks in advance

Download MAME.
Find the proper roms and place in rom folder.
Create a mame.ini file. Easy way to do this if not familiar with command line is hold shift key and right click on mouse on the MAME folder and choose -open command window here.
type in MAME64 -cc (MAME64 if you are using 64bit version).
Open up MAME folder and double click on the MAME64 icon.
Look for the roms you placed in the folder and double click on that game in the ui.

Can you give me a URL for the 64bit mame? and the roms for that version of Mame?

Looks like the direct link is down. Just go here and click on download MAME.

http://www.mameworld.info/

As for rom sites google is your friend. PD is a good site for current MAME sets. I believe it's OK to put rom links here but I will let a MAME moderator respond to this.

Which link?
http://mamedev.org/release.html always links to the latest release on Windows, which links to Github. https://github.com/mamedev/mame/releases/download/mame0183/mame0183b_64bit.exe links to the current version (0.183).

Which was down?
