Vernimark sent us a dump of his Grudge Match cab, which is more finished than the prototype in mame and might be considered complete.

I wonder if Owen Rubin would have some insight into this proto...

I asked him about it when the original prototype surfaced, and here's what he told me:

Quote:

Yes, this was my game. Only ONE ever built, I was working on it when Sente
finally closed, and the game was left sitting in a Golf Land in San Jose and
no one went and got it. That was around 1987 I believe, about April if I
recall.

It had 3 steering wheels, the same type as on the game Stocker. Yes, it was
a standard SAC-1 game. There was also a gas pedal and a start button, and
maybe one more button, but maybe not. The Wheel I believe was a gray code
wheel, but again, I may not be sure, it was a while ago. A gray code wheel
was like Atari's steering wheels, two bits would change in a gray code
method (no more than 1 bit at a time) and that told you which way the wheel
was turning. It was not a position number, or an analog pot I am sure.

Strangely enough, it looks a bit different from what I remember, maybe
someone worked on it more after I left? I do not remember "luck" as
something you could buy in the store, and I also had a picture of a garage
with the car on the rack when you bought parts. Cool.

I thought you retired from Mamedev.

Gray’s binary, at that late of a date? Interesting. I always thought that was left in the 70s with Sea Wolf and the racers of that era...

I wonder who supplied the original proto...

What does that have to do with pasting an old quote on an unofficial MAME-related forum?

I was under the impression he had retired from Mamedev. No need for the hostility. Sheesh...
