I didn't know about it until today. It's not a clone. The game series was developed by "Buddiez Inc" until the DS edition. Later games were developed by Kiteretsu. Kiteretsu seems to have been formed in 2007 so it's possible they're the same company, just under different management. I think they did change the company name. Hint Inc. Haze said they took the idea from Bejeweled. Don't forget Candy Crush stole the idea from Bejeweled. Bejeweled stole the idea from the Russian game Shariki anyway. They just got into the market for iPhone apps at the right time and hence made a lot of money out of it.
