Titan *Found*
#373817 - 02/10/18 05:20 AM

Hi everyone

I found "Titan" which appears to be an undumped ROM hack of Piranha. It will be dumped in the next few weeks. There is no manufacturer listed on the title screen.

Remember an old video show this game, look like more a Abscam hack more that piranha hack (or is hack of the hack?)

Possible Candidates:
a. Löwen-Automaten (1981): https://mamedev.emulab.it/undumped/index.php?title=Titan
b. Thomas Automatics, Inc. (TAI) (1982): Titan (bootleg)
c. Taito: Titan (1980, unconfirmed) (unlikely)
d. some bootleg of one of these
e. none of the above

Video from some other owner:

The Lowen-Automaten game seems to have an Aztec theme, while this game has a sci-fi theme.

Indeed, tho there's something about a Uranium pile on that flyer? I don't exactly think of that when I think of Aztecs...

From the cover of the service manual I'd say that's the one.

You're right--seems to be Aztecs vs. astronauts. Not sure what the story is there. Anyway, glad it's been found!

Thanks for helping get this added/preserved.

New Working Game - Titan (Pac-man hack)

Titan (Pac-Man hack) [Craig Anstett, CraftyMech]

I forgot about this long ago thread [I updated my posts in that thread] from November 2010 in which Titan was discussed when an arcade center in Japan [now closed] had the game there along with other games with some already emulated and a few others not yet emulated.

A bit more known and documented in MAME's source file code.

With next official MAME release in a couple weeks considered to be officially supporting these two games, it will be a nice release update.

Why is Titan a clone of Puck Man? new [Re: KoolMoeCraig]
#376916 - 06/16/18 02:42 PM

In MAME Titan is now a clone of Puck Man
https://git.redump.net/mame/commit/?id=dc9638b1b564a8a024b5412c948c4c6a85b5337f

It has an arcade flyer
https://flyers.arcade-museum.com/?page=flyer&db=videodb&id=6237&image=1

and a manual
https://www.arcade-museum.com/manuals-videogames/T/Titan.pdf

And it's not a hack like Puck Man (speedup hack), Caterpillar Pacman Hack etc

It must be
GAME( 1981, titanpac, 0, piranha, mspacman, pacman_state, init_eyes, ROT90, "NSM / Löwen", "Titan", MACHINE_SUPPORTS_SAVE )

and not
GAME( 1981, titanpac, puckman, piranha, mspacman, pacman_state, init_eyes, ROT90, "hack", "Titan (Pac-Man hack)", MACHINE_SUPPORTS_SAVE )

It still seems to be a graphics/maze hack like Piranha.
