I’ve always used “contrast/gamma 2.0” & beam 1.25 for all my vector games (beam 2 looks too thick and unnatural) and still it looks far far from how I once remembered these good ol’ classics.

The bullets in asteroids looks like sharp dots instead of having that motion-trail look that as the beams excites the phosphors and the colors looks washed out. The missing vector glow is what many of us are after and RobertJ’s diff looked and worked great in MAME 0.142.

The possibilities with HLSL are endless and I’m sure that someday we’ll be able to finetune our vector games to near perfection via the HLSL DIRECT3D POST-PROCESSING OPTIONS or at least one can hope..

RobertJ's diff can patch against versions up to 0.144u4 - after that it has errors.
