[solved - color me dumb again....] polepos - I think the timer got borked again......

I'm a pretty high level player. Even on a cold day, I can usually get the pole position on tournament settings. Not in 157 or 158. It's like back to the old 'off-ness' after .69 - except I think all the rankings are fucked up, because my first game I was accidentally playing on default ranking, and I couldn't even finish the second lap it ran out so quick.
But perhaps this is a 32-bit thing? I don't have a 7 x64 machine with a spinner to see.

Because the report is gonna be "I suck at a game I used to be good at, clearly this is MAMEdev's fault"? And it's from Mr. Hehn? I can't speak for the MT admins, but I'd laugh it off if it came in.

You're being unusually dim. Especially as I have an original machine that plays much more like .69, I'd say I know what I'm talking about.

is it possible to film a video of your cab's screen and mame version on another screen next to it, then could see if the mame version is running faster than the pcb
ps. if nothing else it could give you the pleasure of saying... "told you so"..

I guess Traso would be in "pole position" to know about bugs in Pole Position.

Duty. (inhale.....) What is this word you speak?
I have been thinking about the logistics of doing a video, though, so probably soon. I like my machine. I think it needs some work so that it doesn't just burn out some time when it's on. Hence, I rarely turn it on.

Bla bla bla. If you can film yourself jumping into your swimming pool you can film yourself playing Pole Position. Quit the back pedaling and get on it.
The only way to get someone to take a second look is to provide physical evidence.

I thought I'd the same issue on my main rig, but not the other night. First game I got 56.01 on the qual. (And eventually beat my high score in newer MAME, by ten points, of 65030.) However, tonight on this machine, my gameroom MAME rig, it still runs weird. No effects running or anything. Both machines are XP32, and I'm running HLSL on my main rig. I dunno....
