Have you played the 1st 5 Metal Slugs?
Also, I hear that Clark and Ralf from King of Fighters are guest characters you can play as, so that'll be an interesting twist.

Metal Slug Anthology (called Metal Slug Complete (メタルスラッグコンプリート?) in Japan) is a video game compilation for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Wii and now for the PC. ]http://www.metalslug10th.com/complete/index.php

Comparing it solely to the other games in the series, yeah I think it's good. They added some cool stuff but it's still pretty much like the others.

Well it depends if they get the 64 bit versions of demul going again I guess and how fast your PC is. On 32 bit it will probably have slowdowns during heavy parts.

Demon Front probably won't work until it's decapped. Metal Slug 6 will run slow as hell on MAME. The best option is buy the PC version previously mentioned, it won't slow down at all.

Yeah, except most of the "work" was done by Terminal Reality. They made BloodRayne. They also made KOF The Orochi Saga (US/Europe) on the PS2, and that was godawful.
Just go for the PC version if you can.

Interesting how everything other than the in-game sprites is high resolution... and the UI / other stuff just looks blown up with a video filter. (Looks, not is.)

For my taste, that destroys the style somehow. There are so many nice drawn backgrounds.. then this pixelated mess.

Funny.
What you call a "pixelated mess" is what the series is famous for.
If you compare it to the previous games in the series, it's the use of pre-rendered or digitized backgrounds that destroys the style, not the other way 'round.

That is very strange about the in-game sprites.
Also very lazy.

A lot of people say this and if you were talking about Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 I would mostly agree as far as visuals but when you play this at full screen it's not really like that. The background seems to have different levels of pixelation, mostly coming off as some sort of medium res, and it blends together OK, especially considering the zooming scenes. The resolution change annoyance is a million times less than Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 or KOV 7 Spirits did, artistically, imo. It might not come through well in screen shots I guess.

I'm not complaining. It's just, y'know... kinda jarring.
It's not too much trouble when playing the game (I have the Anthology PS2 port) since you don't really notice it.

I played the previous titles, and the sprites fit well while being used on the NeoGeo. Since i count this as a sequel on a more modern platform, i expected that they would have adapted it fully to the new possibilities. Instead, it just showed up as half-assed.

Replying to myself: I missed one, there's actually 6.
- Guilty Gear X 1.5 - Sangoku Senki Shichisei Tensei - The Rumble Fish 2 - Samurai Spirits Tenkaichi Kenkakuden - Sega Clay Challenge - Sega Bass Fishing Challenge (the last released AW game, in 2008)

Sangoku Senki Shichisei Tensei - do you mean knight of valor?
Force Five definitely exist as well as Kenju, Premier Eleven, Suchi Bar... Even if dirtypigskin appears, then maybe someday these ones too
btw, can anybody tell me first two numbers from serial on cart of Salaryman Kintarou?

What? Dirty Pigskin's been in MAME since November, and it's credited to you

that's japanese name of that game, but seems it have at least two regional versions...

me english bad, me don't know how to say that lol I mean, since DP is dumped already there is possible to others will pop up someday..
> > btw, can anybody tell me first two numbers from serial on cart of Salaryman > Kintarou? > Why are those important? Some kind of protection?
no, just for the record. since even regional different versions have the same AX?? codes, they always have different first two numbers in serial, so you can track down all possible revisions... but for kintarou I don't know any serials...

He means: if Dirty Pigskin's cartridge appeared (which previously was considered unreleased) - it is likely that other "unreleased games" actually exist too.

Good stuff
And there's PC versions of Six and Anthology you say? Then I shall search the very Bowels of Amazon to find and Purchase them!
Unless they never actually saw a European/UK release...
|
|
|
|
|
The anthology/complete versions have 1-6 on them. I'm not sure why the region would make any difference. I run Japanese PC games on my system all the time.

He probably meant them not being available in his particular continent. I have some European-only games that never got a proper retail release in America.
