Getting KINST & KINST2 to run

Okie, dunno if this is the right place to post this. But can someone tell me exactly how to get Kinst & Kinst2 to run in .146. I know I have to update the CHD's, but I'm at a loss as to how to go about it. The best I could figure out is that I'm supposed to use chdmame to update them, but I don't know where I'm supposed to get it from and what I'm supposed to do exactly. Any help would be appreciated

That assumption is incorrect. Version 4 CHD's for those two will work fine. There are only a handful of CHD's in MAME currently which are Version 5. I'm forced to ask.. have you even tried to use MAME 0.146 on those two games?

Yes. I am using MameUI32 .146. When I try to run the games, I keep getting an error "kinst.chd DIFF CHD ERROR:mismatched DIFF and CHD or unsupported CHD version".
*Edit: Okie, after you asked me if I was even running version .146, I decided to re-install it into a seperate directory and setup everything from scratch. That seemed to work. Now the games are running just fine

you only need to clean your diff folder

Correct. I even expanded the error message in 0.146 to better show the cause in that particular case. My hope was to stop the confusion over DIFF/CHD miss match issues..
