Red Baron Control Problem

Has anyone found an effective way to get the stick to work in Red Baron? No matter what control setting I use, the plane wants to steer right, and steering left is the same as centering. The Mametesters forum says they basically wrote this one off, but I was wondering if anyone found a workaround?

The game is basically unplayable due to this issue. The plane can't even fly straight, it always wants to move to the right. What a shame to have a classic game like this have completely screwed up controls... smh.
I tried tinkering with the F2 control setup, it just makes it a slight different screwy controls. The plane just doesn't want to fly straight.

I'll look into this for a regression. If I make any findings, I'll adjust http://mametesters.org/view.php?id=4881
