The format of all listinfo files are normal text and not XML.
These are the ones i used for the MAMEinfo.dat with WDiff and other Compare-Tools.
To use the info files, extract the final 7zip file MAME-Listinfos.7z in any directory.
If you have 7zip install, you can open the MAME-Listinfos.7z and drag & drop files
from the archive to any program or editor.

The archive includes all MAME listinfos from MAME 0.25 to 0.143 (505 files = 8.68 GB).
Normally compressed with WinZip you get a 1GB file and with 7zip a 750MB file, but with
7zip and a very high value for Solid Block (16GB) you get only a 7MB file.
