I remembered a quick way to find out if your video card supports pixel shader v3.0

It is called realtech-vr: OpenGL Extensions Viewer.

You can get it here:
http://www.realtech-vr.com/glview/download.html

If you squint at this picture here you can see it lists the pixel shader at the bottom;
