Before getting into management I was a bit of a tech-head. Being on the bleeding edge was fun, exciting, and there were no problems, only challenges. I just can't do that any more.
I'm afraid people having smartphones and tablets has kind of gone to their head. With Smartphones people happily download the latest and greatest without a care. But a computer isn't a smartphone, and any OS upgrade is not to be taken lightly. It's major surgery.
In fact, you should never ever upgrade unless there is something specific in the new feature set that you want. If you upgrade just to see what something is like, then frankly you deserve to trip over things, imo.
The rule has always been - don't upgrade until after the first service pack. Even then, if your system is rock solid, and does everything you want it to do, there's no problem with staying put and letting it all go by. Hence, I'm sticking with Windows 7. I've not read anything on Windows 10 that screams at me. I'm happy, and I want to stay happy.
In the end I don't understand why people have rushed to upgrade. But hey, each to their own. As a new operating system you're bound to hit some snags, it has always be so.
