on the photo may be seen Sega 315-6414 chip, which is main (and the only big one) component of Sega "Type 3" JVS IO, probably some MCU.
why there is additional Xilinx FPGA + Hitachi SH4 CPU + RAM + SRAM + Flash ROM ? I'm not sure, probably for some additional functions.
so, it's more like advanced type 3 IO.

they are similar at hardware level but totally different in software and functional.
837-14633 is (probably) JVS IO board
837-14438 is hopper/payout/etc cash related controller for later Cash Cube games, but it is *not* JVS, Andy's site incorrect in this part.
it is hard to find correct information in the net about not common games or hardware.
as for Donkey Kong Banana Kingdom game - literally everywhere in the net said it uses Triforce hardware, but as we see, in reality, it uses "Capcom medal" hardware (alien.cpp in MAME)
