They're not DVD-video, they're just a mpeg file on a data dvd (or cd, in junai's case). One can mount the dvd image (or extract/mount the iso) and play the file in any video cd mpeg player.
The current stumble is that nobody yet has had the courage to add modern serial support to the TMP68301, and that's how the main cpu communicates with the dvd reader's h8/3002. I tried, but it wasn't trivial to do it right and I'm currently busy with other things.
