These are the icons and snap packs done by John IV; continuously released since 1997. These two files exist independently from the separate MAME EXTRAs torrent.

These art assets can be used with baseline MAME.exe, MAMEUI, IV/Play and any other front-ends that utilizes the art add-ons. Drop these two archives into the mame\snap and mame\icons directories respectively.

In mid 2025 work began on redrawing the icons in 64×64 resolution, and the snaps are now being regenerated as native resolution MAME output for clearer scaling.

Benchmarks for MAME 0.286

IV/Play 2.4.16 Changelog:
• The app now hides itself when launching MAME.
• In 2.4.10 expanded the universal filter to index all software list permutations across platforms, significantly increasing search depth. Results are now grouped by source driver and can be narrowed using specific terms, e.g., ‘dkong softlist NES’.
• In 2.4.12 created a ‘sibling’ view for grouping large numbers of filter hits together that can be drilled down into. So ‘dkong softlist’ would produce a single top-level hit for all the 255 MSX variants that can be expanded when entered.
• In 2.4.14 reworked the status line on the game Properties view (Alt-Enter) to provide more detailed and clearer information presentation.
• Altered the link to MAME.exe dialogue to default to all files first (*.*) so WINE users on other hardware are able to more easily attach to a MAME without renaming.
• In 2.4.16 added a toggle in F1 to show or hide Softlist machines themselves.
• Added ability to search by softlist media types like cartridge, cassette, CD-ROM, etc.
• Added autocomplete with ‘ghost text’ to the Ctrl-F filter dialogue.
